The difference

Five reasons the phone keeps ringing

There is no shortage of companies willing to turn up. The difference is what happens once they are in the house. HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD is built around the parts clients mention when they explain why they stopped looking around.

Our own engineers, on staff

The person diagnosing your boiler is an employee of HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD, trained in-house and accountable to the same written scope as everyone else on the crew. We do not sub out the technical work to whoever is free that week.

In practice this means the person who measures your system is the person who explains the readings to you, and the follow-up question three weeks later reaches someone who already knows your house.

Prices you read before we start

Every quote from HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD is a document with a line per task and a price per line. If a hidden problem appears mid-job, we stop, explain and re-quote. We have never quietly added a line to an invoice and hoped nobody noticed.

It is a strange thing to be proud of, but clients tell us it is the reason they stopped comparing quotes.

Two years of written coverage

Completed work carries a two-year written workmanship commitment. If something does not hold, you call one number and it gets handled by the same team that did the work. No forms, no argument about who was responsible.

The full wording sits in our terms of service, written plainly so you can read it before you book anything.

Materials chosen for the house

Low-fragrance products that are safe around children, pets and the surfaces you paid for. HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD matches the cleaning chemistry to the floor finish, the oil to the wood and the treatment to the plant, instead of using one product on everything.

You will always be told what we are using and why.

Reporting you can check later

Every job ends with photographs, the readings where relevant, the parts used and the notes from the technician. HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD keeps a record per address, so the next person to visit your house already knows the layout, the history and the awkward cupboard behind the stairs.

It also means that a year later, when something fails, there is a trail to follow.

The honest part

Where we say no

There are jobs HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD will not take, and saying so early is more useful than being good at them badly.

We do not carry the licences for structural work, rewiring a whole property or anything that needs a general contractor on site. We do not sell a vague “general maintenance package” with a monthly fee and an indefinite list of inclusions, because those packages tend to hide the one thing you actually needed. We do not take on work where the client wants the cheapest possible fix to something that will fail again in a year, and we will not do that even if it means losing the visit.

We also do not chase clients for reviews in exchange for service. The reviews on our site come from people who booked again.

What we do instead is quite ordinary: turn up, look properly, write down what we found, agree the price and finish the job well. It is surprising how far that gets you.

Written
Every quote, every scope
Same crew
Wherever the schedule allows
No push
We talk you out of work you do not need
24 / 7
Emergency desk, every night
A note on the numbers

We would rather not quote you a satisfaction percentage or a count of completed jobs. Both figures go stale and neither tells you anything about the crew who will actually be in your kitchen. What we can tell you is that HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD still runs the dispatch desk every night, still photographs the work, and still writes the scope before the first screwdriver comes out of the van.

In practice

What our crews are like

They knock before they open the door

Nobody should come home to a stranger already inside. The crew announces itself, waits if you asked them to, and leaves if the answer is no. Access details are recorded with your written approval.

They photograph before they touch

Every job starts with photographs of the area as they found it. It protects you, it protects the crew, and it makes an honest conversation possible later if something looks different.

They clean up their own mess

Sawdust hoovered, dust sheets folded, packaging taken away, floor wiped down before they leave. If the job creates a mess, the mess is not your problem afterwards.

They tell you what to watch

At handover you get a short list of things worth keeping an eye on over the next few months, written by the person who actually did the work. It reduces callbacks for them and surprises for you.

Try us once

One job is usually enough to tell

Most clients start with a single visit. HEART AND DAGGER SOUTHERN LTD will send the diagnostic team, write you a scope and let you decide without any follow-up calls from a sales desk.
